Hair Extensions For Thin Hair

Do you have thin hair or fine hair and have always wanted to get extensions but thought it was impossible? Many women with very thin, or fine, hair have avoided getting hair extensions because they think they won’t adhere to their hair, they won’t look right, or they just won’t work. For the longest time, this was true and if you had thin hair, there wasn’t much you could do about it. That is, until now.

New advancements in hair care, especially in hair extensions, has made it possible for women with thin hair to get the hair extensions they need to give their hair the beautiful volume they have always dreamed of. This new method of attaching hair extensions to fine or thinning hair is called tape in hair extensions and they have helped thousands of women create a dramatic new look for their hair. Another suitable method is cold fusion extensions. Fusion method need to be customized to micro mini bonds which are finer and smaller than a grain of rice.

Tape In Hair Extensions

Tape in hair extensions are a relatively newer technique and are best suited for women with thin or fine hair. The tape extensions are bonded to your natural hair with tape and are usually 1.5” wide wefts applied row by row. The tape wefts are thin and lightweight, leaving no damage. The benefit of tape in hair extensions for thin hair is that the single method application can be used as a solution. It provides long wear without any damage to thin hair and tape in extensions require no special tools or chemicals.

Other Options for Thin Hair

While tape in hair extensions are best for thin hair, there are some other options that you might consider. They are not as effective as tape in extensions, but some women do prefer these other solutions.
Halo hair extensions which are better than Clip in hair extensions are temporary extensions with the option to take them out as often as you prefer. Clip in hair extensions tend to be heavy and slide out. Large clips could put strain on the thin hair causing bald spots or other damage.
Fusion hair extensions have keratin bonding on the ends and controlled and mild heat or ultrasonic waves soften the keratin to bond during application. When fusion are applied with controlled heat the tong is heated on one side. The temperature, which is approximately the same temperature as the lowest setting on a standard curling iron, is used to soften the bond so it can be molded to your natural hair. Unlike other systems, where glue guns and wax melting pots are used, the proper applicator tool allows for a very clean and precise application. The result is undetectable attachments that are brushable, durable and non-damaging.

Whichever hair extension you choose for thin hair, be sure to have them professionally installed and make sure to find by a reputable salon that specialises in hair extensions.
