This is a great question and one that comes up a lot when talking about hair extensions. ① Longevity of your hair extensions begins with the quality. There are many hair extensions suppliers out there, not all are created equal. We only carry high-quality hair extensions to make sure your investment is protected and long-lasting. Typically your hair extensions should last 6 months when using high-quality hair and proper home care. ② At-home hair care will also determine how long your hair extensions will last. Proper care is so important! Brushing frequently to keep your hair from tangling/breaking. Washing minimally, 2-3 times a week with sulfate-free shampoo is recommended. Low heat! Keep your irons low to keep your hair lasting longer. Hair extensions can be damaged by heat the same way your natural hair can, except the extensions can’t be repaired and must be replaced. Turn the heat down!
  • How long does each type of extension last?
Tape-ins & Micro Links require maintenance every 6-8 weeks; and can be used 2-3 times depending on the brand, color, and texture before needing new hair. With proper care and maintenance, hair damage can be avoided. At each maintenance appointment, we will always access your natural hair as well to ensure integrity.

  • How do you attach fusion strands?
Pre-bonded extensions are so named because of the pre-tipped keratin bond at the top of each bunch of hair strands. The extensions are applied using a controlled heat applicator tool or an ultrasonic applicator thong. The heat delivered to the tool starts with quick friction of the tip and is transferred to the bond through help to soften the keratin bond so that it molds to the natural hair and mimics its molecular structure. This creates a seamless match that is nearly invisible to the naked eye. Be sure to see an experienced extension technician to ensure that your extensions are applied correctly. More often than not, this method is applied incorrectly causing the method to develop a bad reputation. These extensions last from 3 to 5 months. Keratin Pre-Bonded Hair Extension Pros and Cons. • What is a Topper?
A hair topper is a hairpiece designed to add volume, cover thinning areas, or conceal hair loss on the top of the head. A topper is a popular hair replacement option for women who are experiencing hair loss but still have some existing hair. Unlike wigs, which cover the entire head, hair toppers are designed to blend seamlessly with your natural hair, typically covering only a specific area such as the crown or part line. They come in various sizes, lengths, colors, and hair types, and are attached to the hair using clips, combs, or adhesives. Hair toppers are a versatile and natural-looking solution for anyone looking to enhance their existing hair and boost their confidence. The biggest difference between form a wigs is that, wigs cover the entire head and don’t need to blend with existing hair. Toppers provide partial coverage and blend with your natural hair.

  • How do I know if a topper is right for me?
We find that one of the biggest hurdles our customers face when selecting a hairpiece is not knowing whether a wig or a topper is right for them. While anyone with or without hair can wear a wig, not everyone with hair loss can wear a topper. Hair toppers are best suited to individuals who have hair loss or thinning in specific areas of the scalp, usually the crown or part line. To wear a topper, there also needs to be hair at the front hairline as well as strong enough hair overall to support the clips that attach the topper to the head. Consider a topper if: You are in the beginning stages of hair loss and are noticing a loss of density along your part line or at your crown You have bald patches that are located on the top of your head You have strong hair around the front hairline You have hair at the temples and sides of your head You have strong enough hair overall to support the topper's clips

  • Will a hair topper damage my existing hair?
Hair toppers are intended to be a non-invasive hair replacement option that does not cause damage to your existing hair. They are typically secured to the head using clips or adhesives, depending on the wearer’s preference. You might be worried that wearing a topper will cause damage to your existing hair, especially if your existing hair is thin and fragile, and that’s a valid concern. The truth is that a poorly fitting topper or one that’s not attached to your hair correctly can cause damage to your existing hair. If the weight of the topper is too heavy for the amount of hair it’s being clipped on to, if you’re brushing the topper too vigorously while it’s clipped on, or if your hair is very, very fine, the clips themselves can damage your existing hair. At Zoya Salon, we do the hard part for you. We pick the right size, customize and fit it to your natural hair, and then show you how to wear it and care for it. If you like to find out more reserve your consultation or just send us a digital request using the link in our bio.
